It’s well known that Guild ladies are good at hosting Coffee Mornings and baking, but that’s not all we’re good at. The Guild movement throughout Scotland is at the forefront of many worldwide problems and raises thousands of pounds each year to help these causes.
The Guild was one of the first organisations to highlight F.G.M., and to take action, to talk freely about Mental Health, to provide solar power to help irrigation in Malawi, to help teenage mothers in Zambia and to provide funding for a Chaplain in all our ports in Scotland. Just imagine, at this time of Covid19 being stranded in a Scottish port, not speaking the language and not knowing where to go for help? The Port Chaplain!
During the session we meet other Guilds from Paisley and surrounding areas and there is our annual Gathering in Dundee in September when Guilds from all over Scotland meet up.The Guild’s other great talent is chatting, and at these meetings we have plenty of opportunity to do that.
Each session we have a theme and for 2020/21 it is “The Extra Mile”.
As we look forward to the year ahead and wonder what challenges it will bring us, we always remember the Guild Motto “Whose we are and Whom we serve”
We know that Our Lord and Saviour will always be with us every step on “The Extra Mile”
